You may have noticed my adoration for all things techy and stylish so it’s no surprise the Ted Baker audio collection made it onto my list of things to write about this weekend. Ted Baker are well known for their feminine accessories and clothes targeted directly at men but as far as I can remember this is their first major foray into the audio world.
The sleek range of headphones called Dover and Rockall each come in a range of metallic colours (silver/black, brass/black, gold/white, and gold/pink) and feature hi-fi sound quality for the starting price of £59.99 for the in-ear headphones and £179.99 for the over-ear range. These over-ear headphones are created from brushed steel and topped with fine leather so you know you’re getting that famous Ted Baker quality.
For DAB/FM radio lovers out there Ted Baker have created Finisterre, a sleek and luxurious radio that’s finished off with brushed silver and as with the headphone above – some genuine leather. From the reviews I’ve read online the Ted Baker Finisterre radio offers a “warm acoustic sound” and has all the hallmarks of a Ted Baker designed product for a reasonable price of £199. From a consumer point of view it’s compatible with Android, iOS and BlackBerry, there’s a 3.5mm in/out port, USB port and some clock and alarm functions.
Further expanding their audio range, Ted Baker have added Fastnet, a Bluetooth speaker that allows you to stream music from your digital device and again comes in a range of luxury colours such as gold and brushed silver. Although the great design tries to make up for it I just can’t shake the £200 pricetag for what’s essentially a glorified speaker for your phone, if you’re gonna be dropping some coin on a portable speaker I’d much rather you pay the premium for a Bang & Olufsen as those things can really stand the test of time.
Overall Ted Baker have crafted some seriously beautiful products, I don’t see how anyone would want to take them out of the box! Interestingly audio tech is not an industry Ted Baker are keen to expand in and are vary of stepping on toes of established brands such as B&O and Sonos, preferring to instead concentrate on fashion although with their track record and history of producing well made, high quality products I can definitely see a new audio accessories range in the future.
