Ever since I can remember my favourite type of shot has always been a double exposure one. Wikipedia defines a multiple exposure as the superimposition of two or more exposures to create a single image. The difficulty in pulling off a great double exposure shot is insane in my opinion as there are so many new factors and exposure values to worry about. Even if you take two perfect pictures they may not go well together.
One of my favourite photographers who manages to make double exposures look simple is Jasper James. Jasper is a photographer based in China who works mainly around Shanghai and Beijing. Although Jasper’s photography ranges from portrait, travel and interiors to concept driven projects he always approaches a subject with a unique eye for detail and a fresh perspective.
Over the past decade Jasper James has lived and worked in New York, London and Beijing which has allowed him to develop a great way of photographing cities from above. Add a double exposure twist to the photos and you have yourself a winner. Enjoy!
